Growing Natural Resource Professionals
This mentorship program will be instrumental in creating long-term, generational capacity that will build up the incoming workforce to engage in climate work. Mooretown is working toward growing the capacity and the specialized skills needed to respond to this need by taking special care to prepare the next generation to enter the workforce. The mentorship program will provide the tribe with a skilled and knowledgeable workforce to carry on the climate resiliency work.
The mentorship program will provide stipends to young tribal members ages 16-24 to engage in climate-related work. The mentees will participate in data collection efforts on the Feather Falls Cultural Landscape under the direction of the TEK and Natural Resource specialists. They will learn how to utilize GIS and other technology to implement TEK practices in data collection and analysis. The purpose of this program is to build long-term capacity within the tribe, ensuring that the next generation is engaged in climate work, building necessary skills, and carrying on the legacy of climate resilience work.
